How to use Yay! Jersey

Everything on the site is free, requires no login, and works on any device. Here are the most popular ways teachers use it.

🗞️

Morning News Circle

Start each day with Today's news story. Ask: What happened? Why does it matter? What would you do? Links to PSHE, Citizenship and Jersey Studies.

🧠

Weekly Quiz Challenge

Use Friday's quiz as a whole-class activity. Display on the interactive whiteboard, vote on answers as a class. Builds general knowledge and listening skills.

🎮

Maths Game Stations

Fraction Lab and other maths games work as independent learning stations. Kids self-pace and the difficulty levels match KS1–KS3.

📚

Topic Research Starters

Each Learning Hub page gives key facts, images and vocabulary for a topic. Use as the entry point for a new topic before going deeper with books and resources.

📍

Jersey Studies Projects

The Places section covers every parish. Assign pupils a parish to research, using Place pages as a starting point for a Jersey Studies project.

✍️

Reading Comprehension

News articles are written at age-appropriate reading levels. Use as reading comprehension exercises — ask pupils to summarise, find key facts, or identify bias.

🎯

Year Group Filtering

All content is tagged by age group (5–7, 8–10, 11–12, 13–14). Filter news and quizzes to match your class year group precisely.

🏃

Event Planning

Browse upcoming Jersey events and add relevant ones to your class calendar. Many are free or subsidised for school groups.

Work with us

Let's build something together

We believe schools are the heartbeat of Jersey's community. We want Yay! Jersey to feel like an extension of the classroom, not a distraction from it. Here are ways we can partner:

🎮
School Game Challenges
Run a school-wide quiz or game competition through Yay! Jersey — we'll feature the top school on the leaderboard and publish the results as a news story.
✍️
Student Journalism
Pupils can write news articles, which we publish (with teacher approval) under their byline. Brilliant for literacy, digital literacy and real-world publishing experience.
📸
Photo Competitions
We run seasonal photo competitions for Jersey kids. Schools can enter as a class. Winners' work is published on the site.
🏆
Jersey Knowledge Quiz Bowl
We can host an inter-school quiz event — either online via Yay! Jersey or in person. Contact us to register your school's interest.
📚
Curriculum Content
If there's a Jersey Studies topic you need better resources for, tell us. We'll commission a Learning Hub page to match your curriculum.
📅
Promote School Events
Submit your school's open days, performances, sports days and trips to our Events section — free, and reaches thousands of Jersey families.
