Stay safe online by protecting your personal information and thinking critically.
The internet is an incredible tool for learning, communicating and having fun โ but it’s important to use it safely and wisely. Just as you wouldn’t share personal details with a stranger on the street, you should protect your personal information online: never share your full name, address, school, phone number or passwords. Remember that people online may not always be who they say they are. If someone makes you feel uncomfortable, if you see something upsetting, or if you’re being bullied online (cyberbullying), always tell a trusted adult straight away and don’t respond to unkind messages. It’s also important to think critically about what you see online โ not everything is true. Fake news, misleading images and unreliable websites exist, so always check information across different trusted sources. Looking after your screen time โ taking regular breaks and keeping a balance between online and offline activities โ is part of staying healthy too.
